Data Cleansing is the process of identifying corrupt, inaccurate or otherwise faulty data within a system and removing it or replacing it with accurate data. Data Cleansing can be performed regularly as a preventative measure or abruptly when a negative outcome results from faulty data.

What do we mean by this?

When you have to call the post office because your mailman put your mail in the neighbor’s mailbox.
