Last weekend, HG took to the streets to run either 5K or 13.1 miles together!
The Santa Barbara Half Marathon brought over 2,000 runners, from all over the world, to the sunny beach-side community. The race is sponsored to support youth running programs by providing access to the sport, proper gear to participate and training for safe, health and enthusiasm for all levels of youth runners.
CEO Elizabeth Cholawsky said, “I am a huge proponent of getting out there and moving, and it’s impressive to see so many HGers get out there and run, especially at 7 a.m. on a Sunday morning! It’s important for us at HG Insights that we participate in community events in Santa Barbara, especially events that support local youth programs, and I’m proud that so much of our team feels the same.”
The course was as beautiful as it was challenging. Runners spent over 10 miles running along the beach out of the 13.1-mile course. After turning north onto State Street, the course then charted through downtown Santa Barbara’s State Street, where runners crossed the finish line amidst hundreds of spectators and a rocking brass band.
Lauren Wong, Associate Data Scientist, said, “It’s cool that HG sponsored us to do such a fun event! My lungs were about to give on out mile two, but I stuck it out… and I got insights on myself in the process!”
The HG team came together on the race track to test themselves and encourage each other while achieving a truly impressive accomplishment.
Webmaster Jon Martin said: “It’s a treat to get out there and push ourselves alongside our team members. And though I don’t like to say it, Stephen Hunter once again dominates the field as HG’s finest.”
Stephen Hunter, Lead Data Strategist, Capital Markets, said: “Seeing your teammates out on the course is really fun. Pushing each other while you’re pushing yourself is a different type of team building. And it’s always fun to win!”
